The Great Commission
Matthew 28:19 (ESV) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
The three legs of missions
Acts 14:21-23 (ESV) When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
The three legs of missions are preaching of the Gospel, making Disciples, and planting churches.
Acts 13:1-3- (ESV) Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
As people who have placed our hope and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we are ALL missionaries. Our Light must shine to all those around us. We are all commanded to bring the Gospel to the world.
As a church, Faith Bible encourages those who have a specific burden to be sent. We want to pray for, encourage, and financially support those who are called to either full or short-term mission activity. These activities are generally in one or more of: evangelism, disciple making, church planting and their associated administrative support activities.
Short-term mission activity is focused to be in support of our existing supported missionaries around the world but includes local missions. There are also short-term mission opportunities through the various sending agencies we support. Short-term missionary activity outside these guidelines are considered on a case-by-case basis.
